Expanded Club Criteria

Ok so I've received quite a bit of feedback from women who would like to be in the club but possibly don't meet the previous criteria. We at Flip Flops and Chocolate would like to be as inclusive as possible without compromising club standards. The criteria for membership has now been expanded to not being a perfect woman. You can tell if you are not a perfect woman in a few main areas:

1. Your mother taught you 1,000 (or in my case 2,000) times how to properly clean a bathroom but you never listened. As an adult you still dread the task and don't know exactly how to make the sink sparkle, but you don't want to admit that to your mother.

2. Before leaving town with your husband and your brother you decide it is really important to come home to a clean house. Nothing wrong with that, right? BUT, as you are picking things up you have a mental flashback to your childhood of your mom making you dust baseboards. "That was ridiculous," you think, "Surely we do not need to do that for me to feel good about our house being clean." But sure enough you hand your brother the dust rag and ask him to do the chore while you mop. When he says no way, you tell him he has to before you allow him to get in the car. Yes, ladies this is when you know you are either really anal or your mom still has too much of an effect on you.

3. As a 12-year-old you tried making brownies from a box mix and they turned out so hard your uncle Steve broke a knife when trying to cut them. Your cooking skills haven't improved much to this day.

4. Your husband actually LOST weight (15 lbs.) after you got married because you had no idea what to cook for him!

5. Sometimes when you look in your closet you don't really know what matches or looks good together. You come up with an outfit you know isn't quite right but decide to wear it to Target anyway. You then get embarrassed when you see your former elementary music school teacher in isle 12 and even though she is still wearing SAS shoes and has a bowl haircut you are tempted to ask her for some fashion advice on the spot.

6. Swimsuit shopping has never been a particularly enjoyable experience for you. In fact, for at least 2-3 years you have been really glad you live in Colorado where there really aren't any pools around.

7. Coming up with a theme for your child's birthday party is a struggle for you. Or in my case, you come up with really creative ideas for your unborn child's first five birthday parties, but you know you need people like your mom and husband to actually help you pull the details of a party off. (Or you know that if your child is more like your husband he will probably reject your cowboy theme in favor of a geology party).

Flip Flops and Chocolate welcomes your ideas of imperfection and how you have worked to cope with them. For example, I have done much better with cleaning since I made a schedule doing one thing a day. See post... Cooking is still a pretty lost cause in the Lisenby home, but David cooks a lot or we do Supper Solutions. Please feel free to post easy recipies on the blog. And the fashion...if you aren't very good at this before being pregnant an expanding belly does not help. Please see the fashion corner for some tips from those who always look cute. For those of you that struggle with creativity, feel free to ask questions on the blog. Then I'll ask you how to make all my visions happen.
